I always tell myself I'm not making any more blankets of squares because I hate tucking ends and don't particularly enjoy sewing them together. Yet here they are, many blankets of squares. There are reasons, though. For one they make for great stash busters. And for two they appeal to my ADHD where I don't have to keep focus on one single thing for too long. I can easily manage whole blankets with the ever-changing designs and/or colors.
This may have been my second block blanket, can't recall for sure. It was born out of a ton of pastel-colored odds and ends.
And how could I not have done at least one spiral? I hope to do another at one point with a little different block. I used a pattern from Happyberry for this one.
These were more stash busters I did for some of the boys. One uses that funky diagonal stitch, the pattern for which is pretty much everywhere these days. It was the answer to an odd assortment of variegated yarns. The other is a wattle-stitch Textured Log Cabin Blanket by Mary Garrow. This was my first time of using the wattle stitch and found it both interesting and easy.

Another that seemed quick and easy (I mean, you know how it is with crochet, no matter how fast something is to do it still takes a while) is the Bullseye pattern by Brittany Tyler Simmonds. These are good-sized blocks, over twelve inches, and they stacked up at the rate of two or three in an evening. Part of the description for it says it's a low-stress way to experiment with colors and I couldn't agree more. I found a few combinations I would not have otherwise thought to put together.
I was particularly pleased with how this one turned out. This sampler was made of various blocks including:

- Mayflower also by SmoothFox
- Little Flower by Melissa Green
- Tulip row for filling some gaps
