I enjoy making blankets in rows–that is until they get so big they refuse to be anywhere but on me–but even when I make them in blocks they ultimately get that way. Anyway, a couple of my rowed attempts follow.
The Irish Wave is beautiful. It's also very easy to make. This was a stash buster trying to use up some odd skeins of yarn and it succeeded. In the end I called it the candy almond blanket for those candy-coated almonds that the theaters like to sell. "Irish Wave Baby Blanket".
I was always having trouble making my base the right size for width but since I finally managed to figure out how to do the foundation row start it's a lot easier since it doesn't stretch out like a chain does. I made the “Cosy Stripe” blanket from Attic24 when I was still having trouble so where it was originally meant for the stripes to go horizontally I sent them vertically instead. And decided to add a fringe.
