These two are from the popular Caron pattern, "Baby Granny Stripes". It's a mix of a traditional granny square and ripple pattern. However the middle square can be anything, and even a hexagon with a little creativity.

For the first one I made a flower-centered block surrounded by two rounds of double crochet. This one was made to the original dimensions.

Later I made this one. The colors were spring. The center block needed to be spring too. I thought Melissa Green's [[https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/brighter-daze-square|"Brighter Daze"]] was perfect. This was made in an adult-sized snuggle throw.

Here's a variation of Elizabeth Ham's [[https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/drop-in-the-pond-lap-blanket|"Drop in the Pond"]]. I added another color. It nearly broke my brain before I figured out why it wasn't lining up. At any rate, I would make this again.
